Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?

Dr. Seuss : Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes! The chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed it, I've not been told!

Emily Dickinson : Because it could not stop for death.

Ernest Hemingway : To die. In the rain.

Henry David Thoreau : To live deliberately ... and suck all the marrow out of life.

Mark Twain : The news of its crossing has been greatly exaggerated.

Oliver Stone : The question is not, 'Why did the chicken cross the road?' but rather, 'Who was crossing the road at the same time, whom we overlooked in our haste to observe the chicken crossing?'

Ralph Waldo Emerson : It didn't cross the road; it transcended it.

Robert Frost : To reach the sidewalk less travelled by.

William Shakespeare : I don't know why, but methinks I could rattle off a hundred-line soliloquy without much ado

My Aunt LOVES her chickens. They are her pets and each one has a name. While she was gone this past weekend, her 3 youngest children and I "hatched" up a plan and we photographed some of the favorite fowls. I'd never done anything like this, but I had a ball. Each chicken had it's own personality, it was hilarious!

I think this photo is my very favorite from the shoot. This is Ginger (or Gingie).

This is Pao-sibling to Kung.

Meet Jack!

Trophy!

Isn't she cute? (never thought I'd say that about a chicken)

These fowl creatures are sisters-Kevin and Steve. Their names were inspired from the movie "Up".

While Dude stands only about 8 inches tall, his ego reaches out to Mars. He's awesome.

This is Wanda. I can't get over how long her neck is!

This is Darla...we couldn't catch Alfalfa.

This is one of the favorites...meet Big Pearl. Big Pearl had to have crop surgery and came out of it looking like the Dolly Parton of chickens.

Margret!

  1. Great Job!! These are McMurry Hatchery worthy! Caleb's big "thing" is chickens, so I will have to show these to him. I LOVED the dog with the chicks all around! It looked like something our dogs would be doing. They have learned to leave those chickens alone. :D
You should see if any of the hatcherys want the pics.
